Through the combination of Heather’s technical experience and Lee’s commercial experience, any business can be considered in safe hands with us.

Heather Newsham FCA

Director, Chartered Accountant

Heather qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1997 after training for 4 years at Smailes Goldie, a large local accountancy firm in Hull. This provided a breadth of experience in a wide variety of businesses, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in many different sectors, and of a varying degree of size.

In 1997 Heather joined Northern Foods plc and became Group Financial Accountant and also served as Head Office Accountant. At the time, Northern Foods plc was one of the leading food producers and manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, with turnover in excess of £1.5bn.

In 2007 Heather decided to become more involved with small and medium sized businesses in the Hull and East Riding area and set up Newsham & Co. Heather found she could help businesses grow and become more profitable, whilst also improving their accountancy and taxation records.

Lee Newsham FCA

Director, Chartered Accountant

Lee also qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1997 with Smailes Goldie, and then went to serve as Group Accountant for a £400 million turnover group owned by Associated British Foods plc, going on to become Head of Finance of one of their major subsidiaries with a turnover in excess of £100 million per annum.

In 2000 Lee joined a large, locally based, but national contractor as Financial Director following major growth by the company, with the construction firm being one of Lee's former practice clients.

During the 21 years undertaking this Financial Director role, it is difficult to think of a business situation that has not been encountered, from the credit crunch to Covid-19. And so in early 2021, Lee decided it was the perfect time to join the family practice and bring his real world knowledge and experience to Newsham & Co, and add a new dimension to what the practice can offer to its clients.
