Newsham & Co is a Chartered Accountancy practice exceeding expectations of what can be provided by a local firm at an affordable price. 

We specialise in small and medium sized businesses, pride ourselves on providing a personal service, and do not have a large office, meaning our rates can often be lower than other accountancy practices.

Newsham & Co, and its two directors, are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and so our clients can always be safe in the knowledge that they are being advised by qualified and experienced professionals through direct contact with the directors throughout the year.

Newsham & Co's directors are husband and wife team, Heather Newsham and Lee Newsham. Between them they have over 50 years of combined experience in a broad range of areas and industries, delivering all of the traditional business and taxation advice that one would expect from a firm of Chartered Accountants, but also having a detailed first-hand knowledge and understanding of the real commercial pressures and decision making that go hand in glove with running any successful business.

Few equivalent accountancy practices can boast this level of experience within their ranks, extensively covering both accountancy in practice and in industry.

Newsham & Co is also a fully certified Xero Accounting Software provider and advisor, holding Silver Champion status.

As a result of all of the above, Newsham & Co has an unrivalled skillset for its size, and is able to provide valuable advice to it's clients to help them become more profitable, run smoother and more efficiently, increase cashflow, and pay less tax.

Above all though, Lee & Heather are always personally on hand for their clients, always approachable, and always have their client's interests squarely at the centre of everything they do.

Our history

Newsham & Co was founded in 2007 by Heather, and the firm has since grown into a substantial Chartered Accountancy Practice by providing reliable professional tax and accountancy advice to many individuals and businesses in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

Heather’s husband Lee joined the practice in early 2021 after serving as Finance Director of a £50+ million turnover national construction company for 21 years, and brings a different accountancy background and experience to Newsham & Co having worked predominantly in industry throughout his career to date.

We have worked in many different sectors, including but not limited to, manufacturing, retail, online commerce, engineering, service and leisure, the pub and restaurant trade, and the construction industry.

Through the combination of Heather’s technical experience, and Lee’s commercial experience, any business can be considered in safe hands with us.

Newsham & Co can be the “once a year” touch point, if that is all the client wants, but we can also be the high level financial sounding board that many, especially growing, businesses need on a more regular basis, but do not (yet) have that dedicated finance person “in house”.
